There is no question that Christmas is much more than just another day. In fact, all of human history hinges upon this day we call Christmas, dividing our calendar between B.C. and A.D. Whether you believe in God or Jesus doesn’t change the fact that Jesus was significant enough that our calendar changed because of his birth.

Everyone needs compassion
We are heading into the most meaningful season of the year: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. It’s a time we celebrate with family and friends, build memories, and consider what really matters in life.
It’s also a time we grieve what is broken or who is missing from our life. With that in mind, I want to share with you two actions that our children, grandchildren, family members, and friends need from us.

Light of the World
We all have warm and memorable moments from past Christmas seasons. I remember our Christmas, at age 20, when nine of us, eight adults and a 4-month-old baby, stayed in a two-bedroom, one-bathroom, basement apartment for three days! I don’t know how we did it, but we actually still like each other. We laugh and repeat stories from that Christmas but we are not repeating those living conditions!

Light of the World
The light is on, are you home?
The New Testament of the Bible includes four books, written by Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, that are first-hand accounts of the life of Jesus Christ. The Bible isn’t just a bunch of stories, it is a book full of history written by real people who lived at specific times and places. John was the youngest of the twelve disciples, and historians believe the only one to die of natural causes from old age. He wrote his book at an old age, so he experienced more history than the other three writers.
