Ready, set, grow, Part 3

Let’s continue our discussion on maturity from the book of James in the Bible. There are five chapters in James, and each chapter teaches us a mark of maturity. In chapter one the mark of maturity is “How do I react to problems?” In chapter two, “How do I treat other people?” In chapter three, “Do I control what I say?”

Last Sunday we started a discussion on maturity as described in the book of James in the Bible. The first test of maturity is, “How do I react to problems?” Every problem in my life can either be a stepping stone to further maturity or a stumbling block holding me to immaturity. That is the choice we make.

Ready, set, grow, Part 1

Towards the end of the New Testament of the Bible there is a fascinating book full of practical wisdom; the book of James. I highly recommend reading through James at least once a year. In most Bibles it is only several pages as it contains five short chapters. But, it is not a book to read through quickly. I recommend a chapter a day and reading the same chapter several days in a row. This is an intentional way to put yourself in position to receive wisdom from God.

Thank you, Joy Behar

Joy Behar of ABC News and co-host of “The View” recently said, “It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you… that’s called mental illness.” I would not recognize Joy Behar at the grocery store. I am slightly familiar with her show but choose not to watch it. But, I am so thankful for her definition of “mental illness.” I will gladly accept and celebrate her diagnosis. I cannot imagine where my life or family would be without my heart, mind and soul connected to the voice of Jesus Christ.
