Why volleyball?

Three years ago, the West Fargo Sheyenne High School Mustang volleyball team held a three-week volleyball camp for elementary girls. Our daughter, Brooke, brought the flyer home and asked to attend. She enjoyed participating two consecutive years. The camp culminated with the girls being invited to one of the Mustang games. Brooke and I went for our first experience at high school volleyball.

Everyone needs compassion

We are heading into the most meaningful season of the year: Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s. It’s a time we celebrate with family and friends, build memories, and consider what really matters in life.

It’s also a time we grieve what is broken or who is missing from our life. With that in mind, I want to share with you two actions that our children, grandchildren, family members, and friends need from us.

Military appreciation

I did not grow up around men or women with military experience. As an adult I was thankful for and respectful of those who served our country in the military, but still had little exposure to those with military experience. That began to change when our son came home three months before high school graduation and told us he was meeting with an Army recruiter.
